Questo è il comunicato completo postato dal rappresentante della UDE: Quote:
Within a matter of weeks, the game will change yet again. For the better, or for the worse? Don't be so quick to respond to that question, because what might seem to be an obvious answer, is really a question you must actually sit down and think about.
The Mid-Format Changes.
This is officially UpperDeck's and Konami's last chance to improve the game. As the old saying goes, "Three strikes, your out".
The First Strike was on March 1st, when we received our Banlist.
The Second Strike was on April 2nd, when we received Gold Series.
The Third Strike could be on "Insert date here", when we receive our "Mid-Format Changes".
This game for the past five weeks, has been completely driven on the basis of hope. Every time me, or you, or your friends, get the urge to just completely give up on this game, something new comes along at the very last second, and gives you hope. This hope gives you interest of the unknown, and before you know it, you find yourself back on this message board discussing whatever that unknown might be.
When we all saw the March 1st banlist, we all immediately knew what we were in for. But, around the corner was Shonen Jump #50. Everyone put their doubts about the format aside, and hoped this game wouldn't go in the direction everyone thought it would, using the Shonen Jump Top 32 decklists as the key for predicting the future of the next six months. It gave everyone hope for two weeks, until the day finally arrived. When the decklists were posted, all dreams anyone had about a diversity driven inexpensive format were crushed immediately on the spot. After realising only one deck consistantly wins in this format, and how decks costed a solid $1,500.00, the mass majority of players started to severely doubt this game.
But then, everyone knew that within 3 weeks, the "Gold Series" would come out. The thought of everyone being able to use "Crush Card Virus" to combat the very expensive and deadly Dark Armed Dragon deck is what players were sticking around for. The beauty of it was, that only four cards in the Gold Series were leaked, all of which were amazingly tier one money cards. This opened up players imaginations widely, as 41 cards were yet to be announced, giving players the thought "Maybe this format wont be so bad afterall!". This hope would cause players to stick around for another three weeks, due to the speculation of what could become one of the most format saving expansions this game has ever seen.
The big day arrives, and April 2nd is here at last. Players across the Nation run as fast as they can to their nearest Hobby Stores and instantly hand over their wallets for as much Gold Series booster packs as they could grasp due to speculation of the cards inside. "Insert name here", buys $100.00 worth of Gold Series booster packs, only to find multiple copies of "Seven Colored Fish", "Eight-Clawed Scorpion", "Swarm Of Scarabs", and "Old-Vindictive Magician" in each booster pack. "Insert name here", immediately realises that the 27 Common cards in the set are completely worthless, and are not "Legendary cards" in any way, shape, or form. "Insert name here", then opens up all his booster packs only to find out that he didn't even get one Crush Card Virus. He then goes on Pojo.biz, only to find out that Crush Card Virus is one per case, Dark Magician Of Chaos is 2 per case, and Mirror Force is 2 per case, which were the three cards in the set everyone wanted. Even Grandmaster Of The Six Samurai and Jinzo were harder to obtain then most Gold Rares, causing this set to be the most dissapointing set in the entire six years this game has been around in the United States.
The thought of quitting then comes to everyones mind yet again, and this time its a more serious thought then it has been within the past month. Players have now realised a Shonen Jump winning deck costs an additional $300.00 on top of the original $1,500.00, due to Crush Card Virus being one per case. The so called "Format saving set", actually made the format even worse then it previously was, which is really hard to imagine.
"The rich get richer, and the poor get poorer", as one might say.
After April 2nd, players officially had no hope left, and many people were quitting, selling their decks, and looking for a new hobby in which they could play and have a chance at winning. But of course, quitting can't be that easy. A UDE representative then comes out and says:
"Players, here at Upper Deck we are aware of the current issues and how all our players feel about it. We have been in talks with Konami for weeks and are working towards a solution to address your concerns.
Until that time, relax and play around with your Plant or Yubel decks. If we need more customer voices to pursuade Konami, I know where to come and ask for them"
"We've been working on the "Mid-Format" change before the Format ever even actually started."
Once again, we the players are again given more hope that the game will change for the better. This is where it can officially become a dissaster.
This is UpperDeck's and Konami's last chance to do something about the state of this game. If our Mid-Format Banlist does not solve all the current problems this game is facing, this game will officially die.
This leads me back to the reason I wanted to make this thread in the first place, as I simply want everyone to not get their hopes up about this so called "Mid-Format Saving Banlist".
If you look back at our other "Mid-Format changes" we have has in the past, its always been one card that was changed. And while that one card was always the main point of downful in the current state of the game, our state of the game has several points of downfall, not just one like in previous formats.
It's a safe bet to assume the only card we will see added to the Banlist in our "Mid-Format change", is Dimension Fusion. Which is really ashame, because if UDE is to only do something about Dimension Fusion, and none of our other problems, this game will just continue to go downhill.
Remember, we only get ONE "Mid-Format Banlist". If it doesn't address all the current problems of our format, there is no going back. After this, we won't see another Banlist until September 1st, which is almost five months away.
The following needs to happen:
Banned:
Dimension Fusion
Dark Magician Of Chaos
Destiny Hero - Disk Commander
Restricted To One:
Dark Armed Dragon
Monster Reborn was meant to be a ballanced card.
If Dark Magician Of Chaos, and Destiny Hero - Disk Commander are banned, it becomes a ballanced card. There is absolutely no skill or strategy in Monster Reborning Dark Magician Of Chaos, getting back Monster Reborn, using it on another monster and then attacking for game. The is absolutely no skill in using Monster Reborn on Destiny Hero - Disk Commander, drawing two cards, and then getting a free Tribute Summon or Crush Card Virus tribute monster. In the next set, there is a card called "Limit Rebirth", which is a trap card that has the same effect as Call Of The Haunted, yet you have to select a monster with 1000 attack or less. Can anyone imagine a game with five revival cards for Destiny Hero - Disk Commander? Also with Dark Magician Of Chaos banned, it makes our American-Exclusive "Allure Of Darkness", less of a threat seeing how Dark Magician Of Chaos can't be excessively abused with it and all the Remove From Play revival cards that exist in our card pool.
Dimension Fusion needs to be banned, because if you draw it, you simply win. There are to many One-Turn Kill based decks in this format that either rely on Dimension Fusion as it's win condition, or as another card that increases their chance of winning the game in one turn.
Dark Armed Dragon needs to be restricted to one. This is probably the most important card that needs to be added to the Forbidden/Restricted list out of all four cards I have mentioned. Simply put, if this card is NOT restricted to one, or banned, this game will not last much longer. Even if the other three cards I have discussed are all banned, if this card remains at 3, this game will still be a one turn kill game. Chaos Sorcerer was banned for a reason, and is nowhere near as meta-defying as Dark Armed Dragon.
You get ONE chance at saving the game Upperdeck and Konami.
Make it count.
